American Roulette Strategy

One of the biggest arguments among seasoned gamblers is whether you can establish a roulette strategy that works in your favor or not.  This means that you opt to play in a certain way which increases your odds of winning.  The general understanding is that American Roulette is a game of chance with an average 5.26% house edge and if you play over a period of time, this is the percentage that you'll eventually lose to the casino.  On the other hand, there are many roulette players who swear by using one of a number of known roulette strategies.

If you're a keen roulette player and you enjoy taking the game online, you may want to try out an online roulette strategy, to see if it works for you.

Here are a number of American Roulette strategies being used by players:

The Martingale System

This online roulette system is a favorite among players and is relatively simple to follow.  To begin, you'll need a fairly large bankroll. The basic premise of the Martingale System is that you start with one bet and continue until you lose.  Every time you lose, you double the amount of the previous wager which you lost.  Theoretically, when you win, you manage to recover all your lost wagers, as well as one extra chip against the initial wager. The disadvantage, of course, is that you need a large bankroll for this type of system and if you run out of money, you risk losing quite a lot.

The d'Alembert System

This is another online roulette system commonly used by players of the game and essentially assumes that players will be less likely to lose a wager after a losing spin and therefore they are encouraged to add an extra chip to their wager. Gambling experts may argue that each spin is random and players have the same odds of winning or losing as they had in their previous spin, however, this doesn't stop some players from swearing by this system.

Money Management Systems

Perhaps the best online roulette strategy is a simple one of managing your money.  This comprises a few sound, sensible rules that will reduce your losses over time and it certainly doesn't require you to be a wiz with numbers or undertake endless calculations.

Basically, the system calls for you to set yourself a clear goal of how much money you have to play with at the online casino and how much you are prepared to lose before you decide to quit the gaming session.

Equally important, however, is carrying through with your plans. Actually quitting your gaming session is harder than it sounds, especially when you suddenly feel that you're on a winning streak, or that your luck is just about to turn.  However, if you manage to carry through with your decision, you'll see that your bankroll will grow over time – slowly but surely.
